• I use it for water aerobics so it should while swimming.

• It should be able to track your HR while swimming. The tracker is always on.

• The vivosmart 3 is not designed to track heart rate specifically while swimming. While the watch can be safely worn while swimming, it is not designed to specifically provide swimming metrics, including heart rate data.

• I haven't tried it as yet but Garmin claims that it would be able to track it. It tracks your heart rate as long as you have it on. It even tracks your stress level. It also automatically detects the different types of activities you are doing, so it will automatically detect that you are swimming.
