The device uses an accelerometer to track steps. If your arm is not moving back and forth it will not count steps. Debbie with Garmin
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say no. I was riding my bike yesterday and it said to Move! So, I don't think if you keep your hand still (like holding a grocery cart) it would count the steps. I could be wrong though.
