Q: QuestionDoes 30 sec add button starts to run the microwave automatically with 1 touch? Or do I have to add time first then click start?

Q: QuestionI just purchased this unit. Do you have a surround that you sell for it? My current GE microwave died (JE1860SB) and the surround does not fit the new one. The metal base from the old one ( JX1827/JX1830) does not fit either. Can you recommend one?

• A:Answer It sounds like you may of had a GE 1.8 cu ft. oven before. I purchased the GE 1.6 cu ft. and the case was exactly the same as the Kitchen-Aid 1.6 that I was replacing as KA no longer makes the 1.6. It fit right into the surround kit that we had for the KA oven. See if you can get a Kitchen-Aid 1.8 cu ft. A lot of the different brands are made at the same factory.

Q: QuestionWhat is the paper thing with two plastic clips on the inside right side of microwave? Should it be removed before use?

• A:Answer Hi there - Great question! The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place.If removed, it would require service to replace. Thanks for checking! -MikaylaGEA

Q: QuestionI purchased this GE microwave on April 10, 2019. It will not work and we have tried to find the problem on the Internet. This microwave has not worked properly from the first day we installed it and tried to heat s cup of coffee. What do I do now?

We are sorry to hear it has not worked properly since it was purchased on April 10, 2019 and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. To heat coffee, press Beverage pad. The microwave will automatically be set to heat an 8 ounce beverage. The microwave will start immediately. Do not use the sensor features twice in succession on the same food/beverage portion. If food/beverage is under heated after the first countdown, use Cook Time for additional time. See page 9 of the Use and Care Manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40785.PDF - If you experiencing issues with all cook options, we suggest resetting the electronic by unplugging for 30 seconds or so. Check the installation. Our countertop microwaves require a 120 volt individual, properly grounded branch circuit with a 3 prong grounding type receptacle, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. Q: QuestionDoes the 17 3/4 depth dimension include the amount the plug sticks out in the back or do I need to add additional room to accommodate the plug?

• A:Answer The ge 1.6 is a true 17 3/4 deep. There is a hump on the left side back that is the deepest. The right side where the plug is is not as deep. We bought this oven and returned it because it stuck out an extra 1/2 inch than our old one. (Old one 17 1/4) We bought aNother a whirlpool I think that lied and said it was 17 1/4 but it was 17 3/4. So we returned it for another ge. Our last ge lasted 13 years. We are limited by the depth of our cabinet.

Q: QuestionI've had multiple microwaves over the years with no condensation showing between the glass panes and with 2 of these units I have now seen condensation inside the glass doors after cooking a pot pie. Is this normal and expected?

• A:Answer Hi Scott - Thanks for choosing GE Model # JES1657SMSS and welcome to the family! We are happy to address your concern regarding condensation inside the glass door. It is normal to see condensation between the door panels. This moisture should dissipate in ten to fifteen minutes. If minimal moisture is noticed between the glass of the door, allow the door to stand open for approximately 15 minutes to accelerate the dissipation of the moisture. Steam and vapor escaping from around the door is also normal. Make sure food that needs to be covered while cooking is covered properly. Make sure that there are no items blocking the airflow around the microwave case. • A:Answer hi sly1- The vents are on the left side of the microwave. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Countertop Models: 3" of clearance on both sides and the top; 1" clearance in the rear. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. If located on the counter near a range, we recommend locating it at least 2 ft. away. Do not place near or over a heat source. These microwaves are intended for countertop use only. Q: QuestionCan you please tell me the exact depth measurements, including the motor/fan and cord in back. We have a space that is 18 inches deep for the microwave. The description says 17.85 inches, but want to make sure it includes the fan/motor bump out in back.

• A:Answer Hi Keri- The overall depth is 17 3/4 in. (includes bump-out). It does not have a right-angle plug. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly.
