Q: QuestionGE Dual Wave III have a GE Dual Wave II microwave that finally died after 25 years. I would like to rplace with another GE microwave. What model would you recommend ?

• A:Answer Hello, This is Lisa from GE. If you had an over the range microwave, any of our 30 inch wide over the range models will fit in the same space. There may be a slight difference in height and depth, but the width will fit. You will need to use the mounting plate that comes with the new model. Model JVM3160DFBB should work fine. Q: QuestionExactly where does the power cord come out of the unit - top right side, top left side? How long is the power cord from the unit to the plug?

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between JVM3161DFWW and JNM3161DFWW ? (i.e., JVM vs JNM in the prefix). I am looking for a white one set up for recirculating vent. Thanks.

• A:Answer Thank you for asking a great question. The model beginning with JNM means it comes from factory as a non-vented or recirculating. the model that starts JVM means it comes from factory as vented model but you can change to recirculating when ready to install it. Q: QuestionHello. I am looking to replace a GE over the range microwave oven which is model #JVM1440WH04, with the JVM3160DFWW. My question is are the top screws and the rear mounting brackets identical or in the same locations so that it could be a straight swap.

• A:Answer The installer said there are two types of mounting brackets. In his work, he says it's a 50-50 chance the old and new will be the same (for GE). In our case, the top holes and the mounting bracket were different. But the installer did an excellent job of replacing the old/new bracket and of drilling new holes into the cabinet above. I covered old holes with duct tape, making the cabinet bottom still useable for some storage. Electric cord could use the old hole, and vent cutout was the same.

Q: QuestionHi, I purchased this microwave yesterday, but I just realized it doesn’t have a removable filter for recirculating ventilation. I cannot use external ventilation as I live in an apartment. Can this microwave be installed with recirculating ventilation?

Q: QuestionMy model JE1640WB 001 stopped working and makes a terrible noise. Its built in so I want one that will fit the same space without having to replace the surround area. Is this model the correct one to purchase or is there another one that will fit.

The JVM3160DFWW is not a correct replacement as it is not a built-in model. It is an over-the-range microwave and it is not approved for in-cabinet installation. • A:Answer Hi Kanu- Yes, JVM3160RF2SS and JVM3160RFSS are actually the same. JVM3160RF2SS is the complete model number. When the model is manufactured, the extra number is placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. This number is used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, this is used as an identifier for the specific appliance. Q: QuestionWe are replacing a GE Spacemaker XL JVM1460WA and are considering the JVM3160DFWW. Will the new unit work on the existing wall bracket, use the same three mounting screws holes in the top cabinet and exhaust horizontally threw the top of the bracket.

• A:Answer I doubt anyone can answer that question on this forum. That being said, We replaced a GE with this new GE and the brackets were different and the holes didn't match up. I'm not sure why they don't make certain things standard.

• A:Answer Pretty close. I think the 4 indicates the 4th generation of the JVM3160DFWW. The one pictured looks like the one I replaced. The latest model has a few minor cosmetic differences, and the internal dimensions are slightly different. Also, although it fits perfectly in the same location, the back wall mounting bracket and the location of the top mounting bolts and power cord are different...can't just remove the old unit and replace with the new unit without redrilling some holes.
