Q: QuestionI have to replace my current GE Microwave JVM6175 Slate... What is the main differences with another model GE JVM3160EFES? And would this model fit in the same space without any adjustment?
Asked by Sternboy.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - Slate
- A:Answer Hi there, and thanks for reaching out! We appreciate you as a loyal GE consumer, and your interest in Model JVM3160EFES. We would need both full model numbers in order to compare the microwaves – does your current microwave have a model number of JVM6175EKES? If so, we can advise these two microwaves are overall similar, though there is a slight difference in cubic feet, the control panels have different layouts, etc. If you’d like to review other possible differences, we do have a comparison tool on our GE website that you can use to compare the models. You can also look them up by model numbers on our GE website if you’d like to review the features in more detail. Regarding the dimensions, we can advise they are slightly different – your current microwave has dimensions of 16 5/16 H x 29 7/8 W x 15 9/16 D, while JVM3160EFES has dimensions of 16 1/8 H x 29 7/8 W x 15 9/16 D. If your space would allow for a slight height difference while still having enough room for the necessary air clearance, the microwave may fit; otherwise, some adjustment may be necessary if you want to use this particular model. We hope this information is helpful! If you have any other concerns or questions, we are happy to offer assistance any time. All the best! -Sarah@GEA

Q: QuestionDoes it come with a mounting bracket
Asked by Timothy.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hi - Great question! The mounting bracket is included with this microwave. When replacing an Over-the-Range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts and exhaust adapter should also be used. Thanks so much for checking. -Mikayla@GEA

Q: QuestionWill the kitchen timer operate while the microwave is in use?
Asked by CindyLou.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - Slate
- A:Answer Yes! I frequently have something in the microwave while timing something else on stove or in oven. Just be careful if you use the “Add 30 seconds” button… it sometimes adds 30 to the opposite of what I intended (timer instead of microwave cook time, or visa versa!)

Q: QuestionI lost all power to my microwave (nothing on screen). Is there a fuse and how do I change it w/o uninstalling unit?
Asked by Danno.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Microwaves do have a fuse in them and can be checked and changed if blown. Just make sure the microwave is disconnected from the power source and that the fuse is pulled before checking it with a ohm meter for continuity. If you try checking the fuse while it is still in the fuse holder it may very well false read good because of back feeding through circuits. If the fuse is bad, make sure to replace it with the exact same size or rated fuse.

Q: Questionon model # JVM3160EFES has the handle and Door switch been improved? The foil on mine came off. Also the Door Switch on my old model had to be replaced. when you shut the door it still runs, but does not heat up.
Asked by Peggy.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - Slate
- A:Answer Good day, We're awfully sorry to hear that your microwave was running when the door was closed and understand how concerning that is. If an over-the-range microwave comes on by itself (fan & turntable running), first determine whether it is running and heating, or whether just the fan and lights are coming on. To Test: Place an ice cube or water (cool or room temperature) into a microwave safe glass bowl or mug and close the door. Allow the unit to run on its own for 1 minute. Heating While Running On Its Own If the cube melts or if the water gets warm it means the magnetron tube (heating mechanism) is coming on. UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE and contact service. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737. Not Heating While Running On Its Own If the cube does NOT melt or if the water does NOT warm it means the magnetron tube is not coming on and it is only the fan operating. Your next steps depend on whether the fan and lights are on or just the fan: Only the Fan Stays On (light is OFF, hearing the microwave running): The fan may come on by itself whenever there is heat near the microwave; the fan cools the components which protects the life of the microwave. This is normal. Heat reaching the microwave can be caused by: cooking on the cooktop or oven beneath the microwave or multiple or extended use of the microwave within a short time span The fan will run up to 2 hours to keep the components cool and will then shut off on its own. This is NORMAL and working as designed. Fan and Light On (hearing microwave running): When replacing the charcoal filter, the filter may not be seated properly. When you reseat the vent cover, the improperly installed charcoal filter can cause the vent cover to sit askew, slightly obstructing the door closure. This can cause the light and fan to come on by themselves. To correct: Open the door, Remove the vent cover, Seat the charcoal filter properly, Reinstall the vent cover with no gaps between the cover and the case of the microwave. We hope this information helps. Stay well! Mike@GEA
