Q: QuestionRecently purchased this microwave as a replacement for previous model. The vent fan comes on (quite loudly) every time I’ve used it. Is there a way to turn this feature off?

• A:Answer Hi there - We're happy to offer some insight into this. The automatic fan feature protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on if it senses too much heat. Since it's designed to protect the microwave's components to remain at acceptable operating temperature, it cannot be manually turned off. A Charcoal Filter Accessory Kit is required for the non-vented exhaust, but not if the microwave is going to be exhausted externally. Detailed information about an Outside Top Exhaust (Vertical Duct) starts on page 16 of the installation instructions and information for an Outside Back Exhaust (Horizontal Duct) begins on page 20 of the same installation instructions (linked on our website). Q: QuestionMy new GE range is a stainless steel front with graphite gray trim (not black). Is there a microwave that will match the gray, as the sides stick out a few inches from the cabinetry. My current GE microwave, which is an older model, has black sides.

Q: QuestionCan I install the rack that I have in my old GE Placemaker Microwave in this new microwave since it doesn't have a rack? If so, where can I find rack holders/hooks? Can they be glued to the walls of the new microwave?

• A:Answer Using any glue inside a microwave is a bad idea. Unless the glue is specifically made for such use (and I am unaware of any that are) the microwave will eventually break down the glue which could damage the appliance.

All our over-the-range microwaves are designed to fit into a 30" cabinet opening. This makes choosing a replacement a breeze. Please note however, that you will need to use the mounting kit that comes with the model. This is because the kit is made specifically for that model. • A:Answer Hello- We appreciate your interest in our Over the Range microwave. This is a great model, it comes with a charcoal filter. You can purchase another filter if desired. Note: A fuse can be purchased if desired, however it isn't something that is considered consumer replaceable and would require a technician to install. Q: Questiondoes the ge jvm3160rfss come with the charcoal filter kit used for recirculating vent? and will the installers take care of making it recirculating.

• A:Answer Hello- We appreciate your question and are happy to help! Yes, this model does come with a charcoal filter. The installer will be able to turn the blower around to recirculate. Just be sure to ask him or her before the install it. The turning of the blower is very simple and takes less than a minute. If you have any questions in the future, please let us know. You can check out models: JNM7196DKWW,PVM9179DKWW, JVM7195DKWW , they have similar dimensions as model PVM1870DM1WW. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement to your model PVM1870DM1WW should the above suggestions not be suitable for you. Please remember that when replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. All current OTR (over-the-range microwaves), including convection, Advantium ovens, vent hoods, and telescopic downdraft vents can be installed over gas ranges and cooktops* with combined surface burner BTU rating of approximately 65,000 BTUs or less. As long as the 66" minimum clearance from the floor to the top of the microwave is followed there will be no performance or warranty problem. ~For Pro Ranges and Rangetops, we recommend checking the installation instructions for the appliance. Q: QuestionHello , We currently have a JVM3160RF3SS installed that is not working and I am looking to purchase JVM3160RFSS to replace the existing unit. What are the additional parts that I need to order and can I use the existing wall mount? Thank you in advance.

• A:Answer the newer unit fits into the space the older unit had used. BUT, the door shape of the newer unit will hit the cabinet on the left side of the unit. Your installation needs to be moved to the right to clear the cabinet when the micro door is opened. Not noticeable unless you are a nit picker.....you may have to move the hanging bracket...if you signup for Best Buy TotalTech they deliver and install the unit for free....

Q: QuestionWe have a GE Spacemaker. First, the handle broke away. Next, the glass in the door fell into the door leaving an open gap. Can door be replaced? Where from? Also, need dimensions of 1.6 & 1.7 cf microwaves.

The door can be replaced, but will require service. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737. The dimensions of the 1.6 cu. ft. microwave are 16 7/16" H x 29 7/8" W x 15 7/8" D. The dimensions of the 1.7 cu.ft. microwave is 16 5/16" H x 29 7/8" W x 15 9/16" D. Take care. Mike@GEA
