• A:Answer Hi, Thanks for taking the time to reach out. All of our over the range microwaves are designed to fit in the same space. This makes choosing a replacement a breeze. However, you will need to use the mounting kit that comes with the model. This is because the kit is made specifically for that model. So yes, this microwave will work. You will also need the filler kit since our units are made for 30" openings. The filler kit will allow it to fit into 36" openings. The filler kit for this model is JX36BSS. Have a great day! Q: QuestionMy GE Microwave (JE 1540GV 002) originally made in 1996 stopped working. I certainly am happy with how long it lasted! Can you recommend a current replacement model that would work with the existing trim kit? Thank you!

• A:Answer Hello and thank you for asking. At this time there is not a direct replacement microwave and trim kit. When replacing the microwave the old trim kit is not compatible with any new model today. You will then need to replace the microwave and the built-in trim kit. You will need to modify your current cutout opening of H- 17 1/2" x 24" W. The new models would require opening of H - 17 1/8" x W 23 1/4" and the model microwave is PEB9159DJBB and then either optional 27" Built-In Kit JX9152DJBB for 27" wide cabinet or optional 30" Built-In Kit JX9153DJBB. • A:Answer There is an option for venting the microwave inside rather than outside. The person who remodeled my kitchen was able to vent my microwave inside, so I'd think any installer would be able to do the same for you.

• A:Answer Hi Me- The vent fan does not automatically come on every time you operate microwave. All over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan as a safety feature. This fan automatically turns on if the unit is overheating. This is in addition to the fan switch that manually controls the exhaust fan. The built-in thermostat causes the exhaust fan to turn on automatically if the temperature around the control panel rises to approximately 150 degrees F. This feature helps protect the electronic components and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat.
