A:AnswerHey there, we're sorry to hear your microwave needs to be replaced, but we appreciate your loyalty to us and we're happy to help. We're pleased to tell you model JVM617SSKSS will fit your space, but the new mounting bracket will need to be used with it as these are model specific. In case you're still shopping, it may be handy to know all 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. We hope you find this helpful and we're wishing you the best. Thank you for choosing GE Appliances! - Guy@GEA

A:AnswerHi Me- The vent fan does not automatically come on every time you operate microwave. All over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan as a safety feature. This fan automatically turns on if the unit is overheating. This is in addition to the fan switch that manually controls the exhaust fan. The built-in thermostat causes the exhaust fan to turn on automatically if the temperature around the control panel rises to approximately 150 degrees F. This feature helps protect the electronic components and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The thermostat resets itself and the fan shuts off when the surface area cools to approximately 150 degrees F or less. View Video: https://youtu.be/6LoK1geGXbQ - Thanks for viewing GE. Keep in touch!
