Q: QuestionFUSE BLOWS WHEN OPENING DOOR
Asked by RICK.
- A:Answer Hi Rick - Thanks for reaching out to us. The microwave requires a 120 volt individual, properly grounded branch circuit with a 3 prong grounding type receptacle, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. Over-the-range models should be on a dedicated circuit. If properly installed, a qualified service technician is required for an accurate diagnosis. We encourage you to contact GE Appliance Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance or conveniently schedule an appointment online: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/service/ - We apologize for any inconvenience. Q: Questionwe have a GE JVM1860BD Over the Range MW, will this one fit in the space? How about installation hookup? Will I be able to use the same bracket?
Asked by Stella.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Defrost - White
- A:Answer I replaced my 16 year old GE microwave with a current GE model. I removed the old one and left the mounting bracket in place. When the installers got to my home, I asked if the existing bracket would work. They compared it to the new bracket and they were slightly different but would work. They mounted the new unit on the old bracket with no problems. The install took less than 10 minutes.

Q: QuestionI have GE JVM6175DDWW Over the Range Microwave, Manufacturer August of 2015. Won't heat. GE doesn't stand by its products like they use to. Buy new rather than fix. Is the GE-1.7 CU Ft. White Model: JVM6175DKWW its replacement?
Asked by Anonymous.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Defrost - White
- A:Answer Hi- We are sorry to hear your microwave is not heating and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. If the microwave runs but is not heating, it could be one of many components. Make sure the “Timer” function was not inadvertently used. Check to ensure the door is closed firmly. Close it firmly, but do not slam. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms. Reset the electronics by unplugging or by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to an internal high voltage capacitor (can hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). Special equipment is generally needed to make a diagnosis. If you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Appliance Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment online: http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm?ICID=GEARsupportflyout-service - Also, GE® 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM6175DKWW is a comparable replacement model. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. Q: QuestionCan the filters that come this microwave be washed? Thank you.
Asked by mkamalich.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Defrost - Black
- A:Answer Hi mkamalich - Yes, to clean the grease filter, soak and then swish it around in hot water and detergent. Rinse, shake and let it dry before replacing. If the microwave is converted to recirculating and not vented to the outside, the air will be recirculated through a disposable charcoal filter (JX81J included) that helps remove smoke and odors. The charcoal filter cannot be cleaned. It must be replaced every 6 months or when the filter replacement LED is on. You'll love your choice. SENSOR COOKING CONTROLS automatically sense humidity from foods and adjust time and power for delicious cooking results. You may want to pair with a double oven range that allows you to cook two different dishes at two different temperatures at the same time; GE® 30" Free-Standing Electric Double Oven Convection Range JB860DJBB or GE® 30" Free-Standing Gas Double Oven Convection Range JGB860DEJBB. Q: QuestionThe Know Before You Buy video states there must be 30 inches between the range cook top and the BOTTOM of the cabinet. This seems excessive and not an accurate reflection of the proportions shown. Is this an error? My current clearance is 15 inches.
Asked by Spacing.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Defrost - Black
- A:Answer Hi Spacing- Thanks for choosing GE! Over- the-range microwaves must be installed 66" from the floor to the bottom of the cabinet that the microwave/Advantium attaches to. This can also be measured as 30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the cabinet it attaches to (not from the cooktop to the bottom of the microwave). This will allow approximately 14" from the cooktop to the bottom of the microwave.
