Yes, this microwave comes ready to be externally vented through the top of the unit, but can be changed to be vented externally through the back of the unit or internally vented through the top front. • This model GE 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave JVM3160DFW had the option for external venting. In fact, by default it is set for external venting. Instructions told me how to unscrew and re-position a piece to re-direct air flow for internal venting - which is how I wanted it set up.
