“Can these run with a normal closet door shut or do they need a wood door that has some type of vent slots in it so things don’t get overheated?”

The unit does not require a vent in the door. The heated water condenses inside the unit and is rinsed down the drain. There is no significant heat build up outside the unit.

Here is the information from the Installation Instructions, which applies to your question: "Minimum clearances between dryer cabinet and adjacent walls or other surfaces are: 1" left and right sides, 1" top, 3" front and rear. Closet doors must be louvered or otherwise ventilated and must contain a minimum of 60 sq. in. of open area equally distributed. If this closet contains both a washer and a dryer, doors must contain a minimum of 120 sq. in. of open area equally distributed". Thank you for checking. LEDAatGEA
