  • QuestionIs this really a gas refrigerator that does not require electricity, but uses propane gas?

    Asked by Lillian.

    • Answer Hi Lillian- Thanks for considering GE! The refrigerator does not operate on gas. We currently do not offer a gas operated refrigerator. GE® Top-Freezer Refrigerator with Autofill Pitcher GAS18PSJSS requires a 115 Volt AC, 60 Hz, 15- or 20-amp fused, grounded electrical supply. This provides the best performance and also prevents overloading house wiring circuits. The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard 3-prong (grounding) wall outlet to minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from this appliance. We apologize for any confusion. The AUTOFILL PITCHER automatically refills when placed on its dock inside the refrigerator, so you'll have a pitcher of chilled, filtered water ready anytime. In addition to making ice, it instantly adds bright LED lighting to your freezer compartment. We hope this helps! SUEatGEA

  • QuestionI have a new GE Fridge Model # GAS18PSJSS with auto fill pitcher. Where is the freezer temp. control knob located on this model ? I only see a control knob for the refrigerator temp ??

    Asked by KMC479.

    • Answer Hello KMC479, I am happy to help. You only have one temperature control for both the refrigerator and freezer. The temperature control adjusts the refrigerator from its warmest to coldest settings. Your refrigerator will come with the recommended factory setting on “Colder”. For colder temperature, turn the knob clockwise to setting “Coldest”. For warmer temperature, turn the dial counter-clockwise to setting “Cold”. To turn off the cooling in both compartments, turn the knob counter-clockwise to setting “Off”. Note that this does not shut off power to the refrigerator. We hope this helps. Thank you for checking with us. Lisa

  • QuestionCan this be used in the garage (GE 17.5 Cu Feet / stainless steel model)?

    Asked by MaryKay.

    • Answer Hi MaryKay- This is Sue at GE Appliances. It is not recommended that refrigerators be used in unheated locations, such as garages, porches, or unheated rooms during periods when the temperature is likely to fall below 60 degrees. At this temperature, the unit is less efficient and will continue to lose efficiency as the outdoor temperature decreases. At 32 degrees, there is no cooling capability at all. Also, we do not recommend installing a refrigerator where the temperature will exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a possibility that operating the refrigerator in extremely high temperatures could cause the oil to overheat and break down, thus damaging the compressor or sealed system. Thanks for checking with us!
