A:AnswerYes. I am a contractor and I have installed these in cabinetry with a trim kit many times. I am not aware if anyone makes an under cabinet mounting kit. Probably would require a shelf system to bear the weight.
A:AnswerHi Murphy,
If you are looking to replace your microwave you would not be able to use the same trim kit. Trim kits are model specific. So, in choosing a new microwave, you would also need to purchase the trim kit that is associated with the new model should you want to make it built in. We are finding that the model: PEB9159SJSS should make for a nice replacement. There is also a trim kit associated with it. The part number for the 27" trim kit is here: JX9152SJSS and the 30" model is here: JX9153SJSS. We hope that this helped! Thank you so much for your question. -Michael
A:AnswerHello Donald - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. The JEB1860SM1SS trim kit JX2030SMSS or JX2027SMSS required a cabinet cutout of 16-3/4" high x 25-1/2" wide. The good news is that the trim kit to the PEB7227SL requires the same cabinet cutout. You will, however, need to use the new trim kit, JX7227SL or JX7230SL, because the trim kits have changed over the years. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerThanks for checking with us. This particular model (GCST20S1WSS) is a countertop only model and can't be built-in with a trim kit. We recommend model PCWK22U1WDD and one of the following trim kits that are approved. X7227SLSS (Stainless steel); JX7230SLSS (Stainless steel). We don't have a current microwave that will allow you to use your trim kit. It is important to only use the trim kit designed for the specific microwave model so that the trim kit fits the microwave and provides the proper air flow that it needs. Thank you! A:AnswerThe short answer is yes. However, there are a number of caveats with this answer. First, the answers I've seen from GE to this question on other sites is that it's not designed to be installed in a cabinet (nevermind the over oven part) because it vents to the rear. Second, GE does not currently make a kit to install this specific microwave in a cabinet. With that said, you can see in the pics uploaded, that we did install ours in a cabinet and over our wall oven. The reason we wanted to and were able to do this installation was because we were replacing an old GE Profile microwave that was literally identical to this "new" GE model (except for the look of the door and keypad) and our existing GE install kit (JX2030SMSS) fit like a glove. The old microwave worked with no issues installed this way for 14 years, so I'm confident this one will be fine. The old microwave had the exact same rear venting as this model. The label on the rear of the OLD microwave (see pic) said "For built in installation: Not for use adjacent to (within 2 feet of) any gas or electric range, cooktop, or oven. Suitable for installation above any General Electric / Hotpoint/ RCA SINGLE ELECTRIC OVEN IF USED WITH THE RECOMMENDED BUILT-IN KIT." Capitalization in the previous sentence was how the label had it. So, if you can find a wall kit like we have, you could install it similarly. Interestingly, if you search for the wall kit noted above, you may find (I did) a GE picture of this GE microwave installed in a cabinet over a GE wall oven. Obviously, I don't make any recommendation that you do this install and you would be likely doing something that GE says is not advisable; just stating that it is physically feasible. We've had it installed this way for about 5 weeks with no problems. Note that our kit is a 30" kit but there is a 27" version as well (JX2027SMSS) and there may have been other kits for the older GE Profile we had (PEB2060SMSS) or others in that 2.0 cu. ft series. Good luck.
A:AnswerHi Gail, thanks for reaching out! At one half of selected defrosting time, the oven signals TURN. At this time, turn food over and break apart or rearrange pieces for more even defrosting. We hope that this helps! Happy cooking! -Michael
A:AnswerHello Patton. This microwave model has a built-in 5-minute internal timer as a safety feature preventing the microwave from cooking without food inside, since doing so can cause the unit to overheat.
If food is placed into the cavity before selecting a cooking sequence, opening and closing the door activates the switch, initiating the 5-minute internal timer. The door latch switch must be opened and closed before hitting “START,” which signals the unit that food has been placed inside. The "FOOD" or "Insert Food" message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press “START.”
Thanks for checking. Olga
A:AnswerHi Elvis- The light will come on when the door is opened and while cooking. The microwave has an extra large 16" turntable to accommodate large cookware (Cavity (W x H x D) 16-3/4 x 11-1/4 x 18-1/8). We do not recommend the use of a dish that would not allow the turntable to rotate. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
A:AnswerThis is a counter top microwave and is not designed to be built-in. To ensure proper operation, we recommend you have a minimum of 3" of air clearance on each side and at the top as well as 1" clearance in the rear. -Vikki@GEAppliances
A:AnswerThis microwave is intended for countertop use only. It is not approved for a built-in installation with a trim kit. You also cannot reuse a trim kit for another microwave unit as each microwave is going to have a custom one made for that specific unit. Dianna@GE Appliances
A:AnswerNo, this model is not approved for built-in installation. The comparable replacement model that can be built-in is the PCWK22U1WDD. You will also need the compatible built-kit. -Vikki@GEAppliances
A:AnswerThis is a countertop microwave only. It is not approved to be built in. We have model PCWK15C1WSS that is closest in size to your current unit. Your space will need to be slightly modified for this model. You'll also need to ensure you use the hardware and brackets that come with the new microwave, as they are model specific. -Kacie@GEAppliances
A:AnswerWe can confirm that the interior of this model is a white painted epoxy finish. The interior light will come on when the door is opened and while cooking.

A:AnswerHi there, and thanks for your interest in a new microwave! We understand how important fitting a new unit into your existing space is and would like to assist. The JES2051SNSS model is only built-in capable with certain trim kits and is primarily a countertop model; it would not be approved for use with your existing trim kit. The trim kits come in either a 27" or 30" option and are purchased separately. Using the trim kit that is compatible with the microwave is important for ventilation, so if you are wanting to use an existing trim kit for a newer model, this is only recommended if the two models are designed to already use the same trim kit. This information is available on our GE website if you search for the model number; the trim kit it's compatible with is listed under 'Specs & Details'. We would also recommend checking the cut-out opening your microwave is in, to make sure the dimensions for the new unit and trim kit will match. As your current microwave has a capacity of 2.2 cu. ft., you may want to try looking for one with a matching capacity if you want to match the trim kit. We hope this information is helpful, and are happy to assist further if you have other questions or concerns. All the best! -Sarah@GEA
A:AnswerHello RARoss,
I purchased a new GE microwave to replace our old one that stopped working after more 20 years. I did want another GE because their appliances are of great quality so I decided to buy the new one where we bought the previous one, which was at BestBuy. Due to the COVID-19 crisis I could not personally go the store so I did it on BestBuy website and the microwave arrived in perfect conditions.
