Hi Peter - Thanks for choosing GE! We are sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with the water supply. The refrigerator can be used while the water is turned off. Be sure to turn the icemaker off. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, Peter according to the manual if the water is not connected, just ensure that the ice-maker is turned to the OFF position. This is what page 14 of the manual states: "If the refrigerator is operated before the water connection is made to the icemaker, set the power switch in the OFF position." & "When the refrigerator has been connected to the water supply, set the power switch to the ON position."
