QuestionWhy is there no built in drip tray to hold excess water drops from the wafer dispenser

- Answer Honestly I thought the same thing and felt the same way but it’s so much cleaner without the drip tray .. I’ve had drip trays in other refrigerators and it leaves an ugly film on that drip tray no matter if you clean it off immediately and with this as soon as you wipe it down it’s gone and it doesn’t accumulate any of that water stain or leave any residue

- Answer Hi EMM28- Select French-Door refrigerators offer Space Saving Ice. The icemaker is located in the fresh food section, on the left fresh food door. The Space Saving icemaker will make approximately 3.6 lbs per day and the ice bucket stores 3.8 lbs of ice that can be dispensed through the ice and water dispenser on the door, or by removing the ice bucket from the door. Always have extra ice on hand with an optional second icemaker in the freezer (IM5D kit sold separately). Makes approximately 2.6 lbs per day in the Freezer. QuestionDoes this refrigerator "require" a water filter to dispense water/make ice? I have an RO system for my frig and dont need an overly expensive charcoal filter. I presently have a Samsung that requires a filter with no way to bypass, so $70 every 6 months

- Answer Hi Joe3- No, the water filter is not required. Simply install the filter bypass plug if you choose not to use the built-in water filter option. The bypass plug is installed in the same way as a filter cartridge. - Answer Unfortunately, no, the GFD28GYNFS does not display the amount of water at all. I miss that feature which I had in my last GE (whose compressor went bad after 5 years with no replacement compressor available).

- Answer Hello there - Great questions! As of January 1994, all GE Appliances branded refrigerators moved from a rotary compressor to a reciprocating compressor. Additionally, none of our refrigerators use linear (inverter) compressors. A reciprocating compressor, also known as a Scotch Yoke compressor, is designed to give years of reliable service. This type of compressor consists of a reciprocating piston operating in a stationary cylinder. This model refrigerator is not Energy Star qualified. QuestionHas anyone had trouble with water drips at dispenser or ice missing glass. Also does the fridge inside long drawer slide in and out ok. In store model had trouble with it not opening properly.

- Answer Hi Funface - Thanks for your interest! While a few drops would not be unusual, to stop dispensing, release pressure from cradle, withdrawing slowly to catch last bits of water. This is caused by pressure on the water line and changes in temperature causing some condensation to form and drip. It does have a drip tray. To keep dispensed ice from missing the glass, its best to put the glass close to, but not touching, the dispenser opening. QuestionI have all stainless appliances. I want to keep with the GE brand and 27-28 cu size if possible. This door in door model is everything I want but I’m concerned about that difference in color. How different is that?

- Answer I also have all stainless appliances. They are GE profile and I wanted my replacement fridge to match. Although this isn't the Profile fridge, the stainless color matches perfectly.

Questiondoes the depth measurement include the coils in the back or just the “box”/outside of the fridge? I see it specifies with/without handles but when I google it, it sounds like there is no convention for whether coils are included in the depth measurement.
