• A:Answer Hello Info - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. This trim kit uses air flow from the top, bottom and sides of the trim frame. Blocking the air flow can cause the microwave to function improperly and may cause damage to the microwave. You would allow a 1” clearance beyond the edge of the Trim Frame to provide proper air flow. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: QuestionWe just purchased the GE Profile Series 2.2 Cu Ft Microwave Model PEB7226DF2BB. I'm not sure if I need the 27 or 30 inch trim kit. The opening for the old microwave is 28 1/2 inches wide. This microwave sits above our oven.

• A:Answer Hello Hummingbird86 - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. The cabinet cutout required for both the 27" and the 30" trim kit for this microwave is the same. It is: 16-3/4" high x 25-1/2" wide. The 30" trim kit has an exterior dimension of 19-1/8" high x 29-3/4" wide. The 30" trim kit has an exterior dimension of 19-1/8" high x 26-3/4" wide. You would need the 30" trim kit and may have to check with a cabinet maker to see if they had adjust the opening accordingly. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Assuming you are needing the cabinet cutout dimensions, they are as follows: Model #PEB9159SJ, uses trim kit JX9153SJ/JX9152SJ with cutout of 17-1/8" high x 23-1/4" wide. Model #PEB7226SF uses trim kit JX7230SF/JX7227SF with cutout of 16-3/4" high x 25-1/2" wide. Model #PEM31SF uses trim kit JX827SF/JX830SF with cutout of 15" high x 24-7/8" wide. I hope this helps! Q: QuestionNeed Trim kit for GE stainless steel oven JVM6172SFSS? (oven 29 7/8" x 16"). Trim Can be no wider than 1/4" along sides and need total coverage of 6" minimum / 8" max above and below (replaced larger custom oven). Cabinet opening 30" X 21".

Q: QuestionAre there instructions on installation??I have an old cabinet installed microwave with an old trim kit. I was told that PEB7226SFSS would be the right replacement. The old trim kit is pretty ugly but simple to install and deinstall - four small external screws. So if I decide later to replace the old trim kit all I would need to do is unscrew the 4 screws to take off the old trim kit. So, does the new trim kit fasten similarly with external screws?

• A:Answer When I replaced my old trim kit from old GE microwave they no longer made I was able to replace the old trim kit with the recommended one for the new microwave. However, the old trim kit had 4 screws to remove while the new trim kit had approximately 7 to 9 screws, I do not recall exactly. The point being is that the template that came with the new trim kit had a template that I used to align the new screws in the correct location.

Q: QuestionIs trim kit necessary for JVM6175EFESIf this over the stove microwave is recessed into a tall cabinet, do I still need the trim kit? I need the microwave to be a small as possible, and don't want the trim kit if I don't need it. My question is, do I need the kit for ventilation? The cabinet is 26" DEEP, so it's not like it will be tightly enclosed on all sides.

This trim kit JX7230SFSS is only designed for specific Countertop Microwaves, not Over-the-Range microwaves, including JVM6175EFES. We do not offer any trim kits for Over-the-Range. The trim kit (JX7230DFBB for 30" cabinets or JX7227DFBB for 27" cabinets) requires a similar cabinet cutout dimension that your microwave trim kit required. A new trim kit is required because they have changed over the years and are not interchangeable. I hope this helps! Thanks for your loyalty to GE!

Q: QuestionDo I need to purchase a new 30" trim kit if I already have one?We currently own a GE microwave with model #JEB1860SMSS and were informed by a GE rep that GE microwave with model #PEB7226SFSS has replaced it because it is no longer being manufactured. My question is: Will I have to purchase a new trim kit or can I use my existing 30" one if I have to replace my old microwave that broke on Thanksgiving eve and is irreparable? Secondly, will the replacement microwave fit in the niche seeing that the dimensions of the " replacement" microwave are somewhat bigger?? Thank you...

Yes, the PEB7226SFSS is a great replacement for the JEB1860SMSS. The new trim kit that you will need for a 30" cabinet is the JX7230SFSS. The new trim kit is necessary because the screw holes, ventilation and cosmetics have changed. The trim kits and microwaves have to be approved together for use. The good news is that both your old and the new trim kit require the same cabinet cut-out dimensions. I hope this helps! Thank you for contacting GE!
