Don't know because you can't see when washing. But they do work because clothes are cleaner and in better shape when taken out of washer.

Yes, this model feature a dual-action, agitator to provides better circulation and turnover of clothes. The top half operates independent of the bottom half to help drive the clothes down into the water. The top 1/2 of the agitator rides on lubricated nylon bearings. Thanks for checking with us!
