Hi Delarose- PerfecTemp™washer water temperature management systems monitors and regulates cold, warm and hot water wash temperatures. "Tap Cold" is the temperature of water from the cold water supply. "Cold" is a mix of hot and cold water. "Cold" target temperature is 62F (Temperature variation approximately +/- 4.5 degrees). The effectiveness of detergent is diminished in extremely low water temperatures (below 60 degrees F, 15.6 degrees C). Therefore, during winter months, if the "Tap Cold" water inlet temperature is less than 60 degrees F, then a "Cold" or "Cool" (70F) wash setting should be selected. Thanks for choosing GE! SUE@GEA
