    • Answer Yes, the dispenser tray is located on the top left of the machine. It is divided in to liquid detergent, softener, and bleach sections. The machine works great.

    • Answer Hi Joye - Thanks for choosing GE! You do need to press the "Add Steam" button if you want to add steam to the following cycles: Sanitize, Bulky Items, Active Wear, Towels/Sheets, Normal, Whites. It does not add steam automatically and is not available on all cycles. If you selected Add Steam and want to cancel, simply press Add Steam.   • QuestionI notice these seem to use very little water. Just enough to wet everything. Is this correct, or is something wrong?

    • Answer Hi - Thanks for choosing GE! Horizontal (Front Load) washers do not require the tub to fill with water like top-load washers. Front loading washers uses load sensing and adaptive water fill to provide just the right amount of water for best performance and low water usage. The wash basket will turn briefly and assess the weight of the load. It will also do this after the load is saturated with water to assess how absorbent the load is. With the load weight and load type we can apply the proper amount of water to wash the load. Keep in touch! Sue

  • QuestionIs this a 5.2 cubic ft for $599 or a 4.5? Description says 4.5, but everywhere else says 5.2.

    • Answer It said 4.5 . I just got this today and I feel it is a lot bigger than my old one with 4.0 I can wash a king size blanket with no problem and the washer is so quiet even i choose max spin speed

  • QuestionHow do I get rid of water remaining after wash cycle?

    • Answer Hi Mickey - To achieve a drain and spin, select the Rinse & Spin cycle and then deselect the Extra Rinse option (See page 9 of the Owner's Manual). If your front-load washer is not draining or is draining slowly, make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. The drain hose goes into a standpipe, drain or other household plumbing .Remove the drain hose and pour a quart of water into the standpipe or drain. If water will not drain, a plumber is recommended. Make sure the washer is not trying to drain more than 8 ft. higher than the floor. The washer pump filter may be clogged. It is possible for small items from clothing or from pockets to pass to the drain pump. The washer does have a filter to capture these lost items so that they are not dumped into the plumbing or drain; however, if the items are captured by the filter, they cause a clog that can slow or prevent water from draining during the cycle.   • QuestionWill this wash a 2' x 3' bath mat occasionally, or will that break this machine?

    • Answer Hi - The washer can accommodate machine washable bath mats. Check the bath mat label for instructions. The Bulky Items cycle is recommended for large coats, bed spreads, mattress covers, sleeping bags, and similar large bulky items. The machine will slow the spin speed down to 410 rpm if it has a hard time balancing the load. If this happens you may need to add a few items such as towels. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue

    • Answer Hi Kat - Thanks for considering GE Model # GFW450SSMWW! Yes, the spacious 4.5 tub can accommodate king size comforters. Most comforters will wash properly in our front load washers as long as the comforter fits behind the washer tub gasket and is not stuffed into the tub tightly. The thickness, density, and overall size of the comforter should be taken in account when deciding whether to wash the comforter in a washer.   • QuestionDoes this washing machine estimate how many loads it contains so you know how much detergent to use? Our old machine notified us how many loads it contained so we used the correct amount of soap. Does this washer estimate the load size/number? Thanks!
