  • QuestionWe wash blankets with pet hair. When done there is still a lot of hair inside the basket. Is there a certain setting to use to get more hair to go down the drain?

    Asked by CatMom.

    • Answer Hello- We appreciate you checking with us and completely understand how frustrating this is for you and our fellow pet lovers. If you launder garments that have pet hair on them, you may find that the pet hairs remain in the tub and on the clothes. This is due to a static cling effect or an electrical attraction between the tub and clothes, especially synthetic fibers and/or napped or brushed fabrics. To eliminate or lessen this problem try using fabric softener. If you have any questions in the future, please let us know. We are here for you! Joyce@GEA

  • QuestionHow do you stop the wash machine from going out of balance? When you have a large load of towels or jeans any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tracy

    Asked by Tracy.

    • Answer Hi, Thanks for reaching out to us! We're sorry for the unbalanced load issue and will be happy to help. If the machine is overloaded, the clothes may not be able to move freely and may be more likely to throw the basket off balance. Also, the more the legs are extended the shakier the washer will be during operation. Another suggestion is to be sure to use the appropriate cycle setting for each load so the washer can accurately determine the amount of water needed. For example, use Towels for towels and sheets, and Colors for standard loads. Here some more helpful tips: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17445. • QuestionDoes this model have a flat back or hump? And what about the matching dryer?

    Asked by An.

    • Answer Hey there, and thanks for your interest in this top-load washer and matching dryer! We can advise this washer has a flat back design. Regarding the dryer, electric dryers often have a protrusion on the back to accommodate the heating element, but if you are referring to the model number GTX42EASJWW, that model does also have a flat back design for easy installation in smaller spaces. We hope this information is helpful, and are glad to assist with any other questions or concerns. Wishing you all the best! -Sarah@GEA

  • QuestionThere never seems to be enough water in the tub. Even when I put it on deep fill. Also the machine gets off balance a lot. I never over fill it and I place the cloths so that the are evenly distributed. Also noticed the tub started rusting within in a yr

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello there - We're sorry to hear of the trouble you've had with your washer getting unbalanced and the tub rusting and we do apologize for your inconvenience. The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. If the load keeps getting unbalanced, make sure that the unit is leveled. The more the leveling legs are extended, the shakier the washer will be. Surface rust on the sidewalls of stainless steel baskets may be caused by particulates in the water. This type of surface rust can be cleaned off and in some cases prevented by spraying the tub with Windex and using a Magic Eraser to remove the rust. We also recommend using Bar Keepers Friend. If the above doesn't resolve the issue, service may be needed. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737. We hope that this helps. All the best! -Mikayla@GEA
