Not sure about the space difference but you do have to add water for the steam cleaning. Which means you don’t have to run a water line

To use the Steam Clean feature you will simply pour 1 cup of water onto the floor of the oven cavity and then follow the remaining steps to complete the set-up of the Steam Clean cycle. In general, comparing 5.0 cubic foot capacity to a 5.3 cubic foot capacity range is going to be a fractional difference in the overall height of the oven cavity and approximately 1" difference in the depth of the oven cavity.
