- Answer Unable to tell you this because it literally weighs the load once the water begins to dispense. It will dispense only the amount needed to wash the load, no more. It is extremely efficient in this sense and I received a rebate from my utility company because of it.

QuestionFor the smart dispense, would the component that holds the detergent need to be cleaned over time? Is it easily accessible and easy to clean?

- Answer I would think that yes, you might want to clean it, however that would not be an easy task. You would need to remove the entire assembly by pulling it out of the machine, but the access to that tank is limited by the little door where you pour the detergent in.

QuestionThe light on the inside of the washer does not come on. When we switched the door to the other side a spring fell out and we weren’t sure where it went. Is the spring related to the light? If so what is the fix to get the light to turn on?

- Answer Hey there, and thanks for communicating this situation to us. We hate to hear you’ve had an issue with the interior light not coming on, and also lost a spring when you switched the door; we know any issues like those may cause concern. The light is designed to turn on and remain lit for 5 minutes when the door is opened, when the Start/Pause pad is pressed, or when the Light pad is pressed. If the light is not coming on in any of those cases, you may want to consider service. Unfortunately we cannot say for sure what the issue with the light is or whether that lost spring is causing a problem, without a technician examining the unit. Our Service Department is available at 1-800-432-2737. If the technician determines the light may need to be replaced, it’s available under Part #WH01X29685. QuestionDoes it come with that bottom pedestal, and is the pedestal required? What is the name of that and is it sold separately??

- Answer Hi there. The pedestal isn't included or required for the washing machine to function. There are two different types to choose from for this model. QuestionI've had my GE 5.0 High Eff. for 4 years. On the spin cycle it continues to attempt balancing but will not balance. The machine jumps and vibrates as if its coming apart. It does this with small or large loads. We have stop using it. Need repairman.

It is a rod and spring floating suspension, designed to withstand extensive out of balance situations without the need for an "out of balance" switch. QuestionSo I use the auto dispense for soap and select the towel cycle. This is about the 5x it has done this; at the 16min timer it will lock and unlock multiple times, light inside flashes, dings then after 5-10min itll go back to normal. What does this mean?

- Answer The fan turns one after each load has been removed. I think it turns on to prevent mold from growing in the door seal.
