Q: Questionwith the new sensors, will i be able to boil a pot of water to cook pasta or other dishes?
Asked by seniorlady.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 5.3 Cu. Ft. Freestanding Electric Range with Self-Cleaning and Sensi-temp Technology - Black
- A:Answer Hello... I came on this thread to see if I could change out the sensi-temp coils to regular ones. I own this stove and I HATE the sensi-temp feature. The heat is inconsistent, it takes much longer to boil water for pasta or rice. You can FORGET about searing anything! Not a steak, chicken breast, or piece of fish. Your food ends up just barely simmering until the burner decides to cut back on. I have all new cookware, so the button contacts the bottom of the pan. So far, my solution has been to turn on every burner and move the pan to a new burner to cook my food through. I understand you have a job to do Sue, but I'm just sharing my truthful experience.

Q: QuestionWhat type of self cleaning does this model have?
Asked by Eve60.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 5.3 Cu. Ft. Freestanding Electric Range with Self-Cleaning and Sensi-temp Technology - Black
- A:Answer Hi Eve60- Thanks for considering GE® 30" Free-Standing Self-Clean Electric Range JB258DMBB! The self-clean oven is cleaned by heat, at temperatures above normal cooking temperatures. During the cleaning cycle the oven is heated to about 880 degrees Fahrenheit (471° C.). At this temperature, food soils inside the oven decompose, leaving behind a small amount of ash. The leftover ash is similar to cigarette ashes, and wipes out easily with a wet cloth. Q: QuestionWill these sensi temp coils heat up without a pot or pan sitting on the coil? Or does the sensi temp need to be pressed for the coil to heat up?
Asked by Rocresident.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 5.3 Cu. Ft. Freestanding Electric Range with Self-Cleaning and Sensi-temp Technology - Black
- A:Answer The sensi temp coils do heat up with nothing on them, I turned a burner to high and in a few minutes it turned red. I heard horror stories about these burners, but I have not had any problems cooking on them. I do use a good grade stainless steel cookware and cast iron pans. I like the new stove they heat and cook well. Have a Happy New Year.
