- Answer The dryer can be installed on carpet. -- For a washer, you must ensure the floor beneath the washer is a hard surface with a maximum slope of 1/2" per foot. It must be structurally sound to prevent vibration or movement. If the floor is in poor condition, use a 3/4" impregnated plywood sheet firmly attached to the existing floor covering, ensuring the unit sits level on a stable surface.
