• A:Answer Hi Terrifrmtx - Thanks for considering GE Model GDF630PSMSS! This model has Automatic HotStart and will preheat the water. Water coming into the dishwasher may be as low as 95 degrees F and this feature will help raise the temperature to the required 120 degrees F. It actually heats the tub, spray arms, dishes, (prior to the main wash cycle) allowing proper cleaning. Once selected, approximately 1-1/2 gallons of water enters the tub, circulates in the tub for 5 minutes and then drains. This helps to purge cold water that may be in the line. Then another 1-1/2 gallons of water enters the tub and circulates for approximately 15 minutes and then drains. The heating element is on during this period, heating up the water and the tub. After this option is run, the dishwasher will automatically go into the cycle that has been selected. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue

Q: QuestionThe text says it has 3 racks, but the picture looks like 2. Are they counting the silverware holder as a separate rack? How do they get to 3 racks?

Light can play a large role in how finishes are perceived. If you are worried about the Slate finish's look, we would recommend contacting a local dealer so you are able to see the finish in person. But do know that we sell full suites of appliances with finishes that will allow them to compliment one another for a complete look in your home. We hope that this helped to clear things up. We know something like this may be worrying, and regret any inconvenience you’ve experienced. Our dishwashers are designed to maintain safe operating temperatures and comply with UL standards as well as our own strict standards. But depending on the cycle and option combinations used, it isn’t uncommon for surrounding cabinets/countertops/drawers to feel warm after a cycle is completed. If you’d like to check and make sure your dishwasher is installed correctly in the space, we do have installation instructions available.
