QuestionI currently have a GE model jvm1540sm2ss that no longer works. It had rear venting to the side exterior wall. I understand that model is discontinued. What is the best rated, identical or nearly identical model to replace it with? Thanks!

- Answer Hi kdallen220- You can choose any model. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. You can use the same rear venting. - Answer Yes. The interior is gray/dark colored so the light only shines on the food it is cooking.

- Answer Hi Bea- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are happy to provide assistance. While the microwave is assembled for outdoor exhaust, it can be converted to recirculating (indoor) venting. The instructions are included with the microwave. All of our over-the-range microwave ovens are designed for adaptation to the following three types of ventilation: *Outside exhaust (horizontal), *Outside exhaust (vertical), *Recirculating (non-vented). - Answer We have designed our fingerprint resistant stainless steel finish to blend with non-fingerprint resistant stainless steel. The color and tone of our fingerprint resistant stainless steel has very good color harmony with other products. The finish does have a more rich satin finish than traditional stainless, so it is slightly less reflective.

- Answer Models JVM7195SKSS and PVM9005SJSS are both approximately 30"W, over-the-range microwaves; all of our 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Any of our current 30" over-the-range models will therefore work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model, so PVM9005SJSS will work great as a replacement! Please note that you should use the mounting bracket and hardware that come with the new microwave, rather than using an old bracket and hardware. -Sarah@GEAppliances

- Answer Yes, we can confirm that we still currently manufacture the wall oven model JTS5000SVSS and they can be purchased on the Best Buy website. Model PVM9005SJSS is an over-the-range microwave and is designed to be installed over a range or under a cabinet. It cannot be installed into a cabinet cutout. - Answer The PVM9005SJSS can be vented out the back or out the top for external venting. The specific details of which can be found in the online Installation Instructions. For satisfactory air movement, the total duct length of 3 1/4" x 10" rectangular or 6"diameter round duct work should not not exceed 140 equivalent feet.

- Answer No, we do not offer self-closing doors on our microwaves. If you find that your microwave door closes loudly or is harder to close than your previous model, the difference in the door noise is due to a firmer spring in the door latch; this is a normal condition for the microwave. You can lift up on the latch to feel the tension.

QuestionI have an old Advantium 120 for 18 years. It has worked great for us. However the plastic grill is basically falling apart. It is vented outside. Would thi unit fit in the same spot without having to mess around with changing the ducting.

Please know that the microwave you selected will fit in your space and work well for you without having to change the ducting, however it is just a microwave. The 120 Advantium is model number PSA9120SPSS. Note: The Advantium oven uses breakthrough Speedcook technology to harness the power of light. The Advantium oven cooks the outside of foods much like conventional radiant heat, while also penetrating the surface so the inside cooks simultaneously. The outside of the food is cooked like a conventional oven, with radiant heat produced by halogen bulbs above and below the food. This halogen-produced heat receives a boost of microwave energy to brown and cook foods evenly and fast, while retaining their natural moisture.
