A:AnswerHello - This model uses the RPWFE water filter and should automatically reset the water filter indicator light. The RPWFE water filter uses radio frequency identification (RFID) to detect leaks and monitor the filter status. Please make sure the filter is installed correctly, that you're using a genuine GE Appliances RPWFE filter, and that there are no leaks using the instructions in the "Water Filter Cartridge - RPWFE" section on pg. 17 of the Owner's Manual. If this doesn't prove helpful, we recommend scheduling a service appointment for one of our qualified technicians to assess your unit. You can schedule an appointment by calling us at: 1-800-432-2737. Kind regards. -Don@GEAppliances
A:AnswerHi - Thanks for reaching out to us. If the non-dispenser door is open, the dispenser will not function. If you're actively using the dispenser and the non-dispenser door is opened, the dispenser will stop functioning. We appreciate you checking with us. Kind regards - Vikki@GEAppliances

A:AnswerHi – thanks for reaching out! Water under the full width drawer in the fresh food section may indicate a clogged drain tube. If it is frosting up or freezing, it could mean that the temperature is set too low as well. These models require some disassembly to access the defrost drain tube, so we recommend that you contact service. You can schedule service online by visiting the GE Appliances website or by calling 1-800-432-2737. We hope this is helpful and please feel free to reach out anytime with additional questions or concerns. Take care. Lauren@GEAppliances
A:AnswerThe water filter that is required is the RPWFE, which has a "chip" on it. The chip tells the refrigerator when to signal a change for the filter - every 6 months or 170 gallons of water and detects leaks. There is a filter without the chip, RPWF. Some refrigerators can take either filter. I believe that this GE model only takes the chipped one, RPWFE. I thought about switching to the cheaper filter, without the chip because the water line going to the fridge comes from my Reverse Osmosis water system, already highly purified. I think the unchipped filter will shut the water and ice functions down, like it did for you. Check your cartridge for the correct model, if it is fine, call GE support.
A:AnswerGood day,
It is absolutely possible to run this refrigerator without a filter. However, you will not be able to use the dispenser features without either a filter of the bypass plug installed. If you need a bypass plug, you can contact our parts store at 1-877-959-8688 Mon-Fri 8am to 8pm ET. Best wishes. Mike@GEA
A:AnswerHi,
We can certainly understand your concern about noises you may not be familiar with. We recommend checking out page 44 of the owner's manual to see if the noise fits the description of one of the sounds listed. If not, you can always schedule a technician to come check out your refrigerator. You can schedule an appointment by calling 800-432-2737. Best. Mike@GEA
A:AnswerYes, you have room as it requires an eighth inch clearance on each side and 2 inches for the back. Too close for me, chance of dinging up the wall, fridge or both when it moving it to clean. I spent plenty of money to move cabinets a few inches to ensure the fridge could "breathe".
A:AnswerI also have a wall on one side with a closet. If the refrigerator is away from the back wall the required 2", the door will open as far as it can, clears the refrigerator end panel and the wall, and the bins can be removed without any issues. I also have an inch and half of space next to the wall and hugged the refrigerator end panel/counter on the other side. I believe you will need a full 135 degrees to get bins/drawer removed. They will pull out to access everything in the back of the drawers at 90 degrees. If you have a wall along side, plan on another 15 1/2" of space to fully open the door. A friend has this same refrigerator and wishes she had a small counter on the wall side as it does not open fully, and the window moulding is getting scratched from the fridge. My second picture shows the inside opened up, the 3rd & 4th show how far the door can open and not hit my closet door or the wall. You can see the light from inside the fridge along the door edge.
A:AnswerWas everything cold when it went in the fridge? It may take a day or two before it finally gets to the correct temperature. Try not to open the doors for a few hours and see if the temp goes down. If not, you will have to make an appointment for a service call. Mine got to 37 degrees in 2 days' time. My food was stored in my basement fridge so I could empty the old one before this one came. Even though I tried to be efficient putting the food into the new fridge, the food still warmed up a bit and having the doors open didn't help.
A:AnswerHi - We are so very sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your refrigerator. We recommend calling GE Appliances at 1-800-432-2737 to schedule a service appointment to have the refrigerator checked by an authorized service technician. Please keep the doors closed as much as possible. If the temperatures continue to rise, move your food if you can, to prevent it from defrosting. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA
A:AnswerHi - Thank you for reaching out to us. To set the refrigerator and freezer temperatures, press the Fridge and/or Freezer pad repeatedly until your desired temperature is displayed. If you inadvertently set it higher than you prefer, pressing the pad repeatedly will cycle the available temperature settings back around for you. We hope this helps. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA
A:AnswerHi,
We'll be happy to answer your question! The normal temperature range should be between 34 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit in the fresh food section. It should be between -5 and +8 degrees Fahrenheit in the freezer section of a self-defrosting model or 5 to 7 degrees Fahrenheit in the freezer section of a manual defrost model. Reach out to us on social media if you need anything. All the best. Mike@GEA
