To use the Steam Clean feature, you will pour approximately one cup of water onto the oven floor. there's no water connection or self-contained cartridge needed. It does not allow for the steaming of foods and Proof is one of the great features offered in the either the upper or lower oven. -Vikki@GEAppliances
