No, this is not true. You can set the microwave for the desired time that you select. -Don@GEAppliances
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On another question, GE Answers responded with this, so the response from Don was apparently incorrect: The microwave time can only be set in 15 second increments (i.e. 45 seconds or 1 minute). To achieve a cook time of 49 seconds, here are the steps; Press the Microwave pad, Turn the selector dial to Cook By Time and press the selector dial to enter, Turn the selector dial to set the cook time to one minute and press the selector dial to enter, Press the selector dial to start cooking, and Lastly, when the cook time reaches 11 seconds remaining open the door. To learn more, check out the Cook By Time section on page 15 of the Owner’s Manual, which can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for the quick response, Don@GEAppliances. I am relying on your response. There was a customer review that said, "The one thing I’m not a big fan of is the turn the dial feature to adjust the cook time. It adjusts in 15 second increments. Not sure why that bothers me but sometimes I like to reheat my coffee for 20 seconds not 15 - not 30" but it was posted 4 years ago. Maybe there was a firmware update since then or the customer did not understand how to use the controls.
