It can be a lot of things ranging from a blown fuse or an issue wit the door latch. Make sure the door is completely closed before operating. Or. google the problem shooting for your respective model and see if there is a fuse and is it blow? Someone could have run the microwave inadvertently with aluminum foil, a screw, etc, in it to trigger a blown fuse.
