It keeps the ice cool though it does melt over time. The machine will recycle the ice as it melts into fresh ice so you do not get stale ice like you get out of most refrigerator ice makers.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Melted ice drains back into the machine to make more ice. If you put a bag of it in the freezer it’s pretty hard to get it all broken up back to nuggets.
