• A:Answer It keeps the ice cool though it does melt over time. The machine will recycle the ice as it melts into fresh ice so you do not get stale ice like you get out of most refrigerator ice makers.

Q: Questionwe just had our Opal 2.0 ice maker delivered. The box was in bad shape and when we took it out we noticed that there was some water in the tubes.... is this normal or were we sent a used or refurbished unit????

• A:Answer If there was water in the tubing, then the unit must have been used. The first one I received from best buy had a severely damaged box and minor scratch on the side, so it was returned without trying to start-up. The second one was in good condition, but when trying to start up, the pump would not prime. Contacted GE and they recommended a method to try to prime, but still did not work. Returned the second one and gave up. It looks huge on the counter, so not sure if we will try a 3rd one.

Q: QuestionPurchased my machine August 2024. Haven’t had any issues. It’s started defrosting 2 days ago and won’t come out of defrost mode. We haven’t had any other issues with this machine. Has anyone else experienced this?

Q: QuestionHow is the noise level of this ice maker compared to others of comparable size and quality? That's my challenge is finding an ice maker like this for my office but must be able to operate quiet enough that it doesn't distract during calls with clients.

Q: QuestionIs there any difference between the regular opal and the XL Opal? Is it just the tank size? Specs show xl 3 inches wider but assuming this might just be the tank size?

This model offers the XL 1 gallon side tank which is intended to be more convenient for you as you won't need to add fresh water quite as often. Q: QuestionWhat do you do when the machine is blinking cleaning? How do you clean it?

• A:Answer Based on the Owner's Manual we make available online, the "Cleaning" indicator will flash to let you know it's time to descale the unit. The indicator will stop flashing once the descaling process is finished. If you click on the Product tab and scroll all the way down the list of features, you will find a link for the Owner's Manual. The step-by-step instructions to sanitize and descale the unit starts on Page 7.
