Hi Miked - Thanks for considering GE Profile Model # PYD22KBLTS! Yes, this model features advanced water filtration RPWFE. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is used to detect leaks and monitor the filter status. GE Appliances recommends refrigerators with water filtration system use only genuine GE Appliance water filters. This helps prevent water leaks. The RFID component is part of the overall system that communicates with the refrigerator and shuts off the water supply in the event a leak is detected. Non-GE filters and counterfeit filters without this technology will not perform the same way in the event of a water leak. The RFID will then automatically reset the Replace Water Filter reminder when a new RFID filter or the bypass plug is installed. The reminder cannot be manually reset. The refrigerator has the option to use a bypass plug should you not want to use a genuine GE Appliances water filter.
