What is the chassis like? Is the keyboard area metal? null

It might as well be. It's a very rigid chassis, and I trust this with both of parents. Better built than literally all of the laptops my company purchases. See my review for a full write-up too. P.S. Check out youtube and you can just see the build quality when reviewers hold the machine.
