Google Fi Help on this topic here: https://support.google.com/fi/answer/6079346?hl=en
Google Fi gives you a $10 credit when you activate a SIM card, so the cost to buy a SIM card is almost zero. To keep your number and suspend service you can port the number to Google Voice (which is a free account), then buy another SIM card and port the number to the SIM card when you travel again. Porting is free. You would go through a learning curve to set this up, but it should work repeatedly. You would also have continuous use of the phone number.
A:AnswerYes. We are Verizon customers and my son has been studying in the UK. We just removed the Verizon SIM and replaced it with the Google Fi SIM. Just be sure to create account and set it up here (US) before you take off to the UK. Once you land, just turn off airplane mode and you will be set.
I hope this helps.

A:AnswerYou can definitely use it for such purpose but beware the charges it incurs will be prorated and charged to your account for how many ever days you use. There will be no activation fees to it but you will need a compatible device to activate this sim card.
A:AnswerGoogle Fi is a separate carrier from MetroPCS. You could get this, switch your SIM card, and just activate the account for one month since it's a month to month charge. There is no cancellation fee, contract, or required period of usage. Additionally, you should confirm on the Google Fi website that your phone is compatible with the Fi network.
