I bought a second Nest router to do exactly what you are looking for. I installed the second one next to the indoor garage door, and now I have a strong signal in my driveway.

Ideally, one Nest Wifi can cover up to 2,200 sqft while a Nest Wifi point can cover up to 1,600 sqft. But where they are placed, the layout of your house, and physical obstructions like furniture can impact the total coverage. For an estimate of how much Wi-Fi coverage you’ll get with Nest Wifi and a guide to how many Wifi points you need check here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7182840

The Google Mesh router is what you need to start a wifi system by directly connecting it to you internet providers modem via a Ethernet cable, and then you can add additional hubs around your home that connect to the Google Router and re-broadcast the wifi signal. My house is very long, and my office with the modem is in a front room (not an ideal location) so I have 2 Google Mesh routers connected via Ethernet cable to my modem (1 upstairs and 1 down) and 4 hubs placed around the house so there is a strong wifi signal everywhere in the home and so we can get good reception outside the house where we have a video doorbell and some spotlight cameras. Overall the Google Mesh system works very well and I’m very happy with it.
