I use mine without a c-wire
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Typically, smart thermostats don’t require a common wire, but every system is different. Without a common wire, your Nest thermostat will charge itself using your existing heating and cooling wires. Depending on your heating and cooling system, you may need a common wire installed to be compatible with the Nest thermostat. We recommend using our Compatibility Checker tool on this link to verify if your system is compatible: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9246656
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The C wire provides low power to the thermostat. You don't need it because the Nest will run on the two AA batteries that are included with the thermostat. Take a look at the Nest wiring diagram or view the YouTube video from Google to compare your existing wires with the diagram. I never used my C wire on previous thermostats but decided to hook it up since the Nest accepts it. I am told the batteries last a really long time!
