Hi, Smurf78! If you mean to keep it plugged in for continuous power, yes. Although the doorbell can run on battery alone, you can connect your doorbell to a power outlet with the optional power adapter to keep the battery charged. We suggest contacting your retailer to inquire about the Ninety7 Indoor Power Adapter or S2dio Indoor Power Adapter for Nest Doorbell (wired) and Nest Doorbell (battery). Thank you!

Yes!  Your homes 24v pre installed power supply will work just fine.  If you already had a doorbell just hook the 2 wires to the terminals on the back.
