“I'm trying to mount a go pro to a hiking pole. I need something very light weight, but it must attach securely. The poles take alot of shock.”

• You might try this; Camera Handlebar Seatpost Clamp Roll Bar Mount+Mounting Adapter for GoPro Hero 1 2 3 3+ Black. Don't know if will clamp on a hiking pole. GoPro and others have different pole clamps.
