“Does the Hero9 media mod allow you to charge the battery without having to take it off? I.e. if you use it for production with an HDMI out will you be able to plug it in so you aren't dependent on the battery?”

Yes. When you use the USBC port and plug it into an external battery pack, it will show that the Hero 9 is charging.

Yes, the Media Mod has a USB-C port that you can use to charge the GoPro while it's in the Media Mod.

Yes, you can charge your camera. Before attaching it in, you have to take out left cover of your camera and plug your camera inside Media Mod. Afterwards you can, charge, plug external microphone and transfer screen from HDMI at the same time.

Yes! You can attach an external battery pack to the camera through the media mod and get actually useable battery life
