• Bottom. I forgot to mention that ii is hard to read the lettering for the functions. They are legible in the right light but since they are engraved in metal, they blend with the metal.

• You can play chrome tapes. Head is on bottom.

• There is not a specific setting for CRO2 tapes on this unit. The tape heads are at the bottom of the compartment.
