Q: QuestionWe have water pooling on the top shelf of the refrigerator which appears to be condensation from the auto defrost for the freezer. Can we fix it? Where is information on the auto defrost function?

• A:Answer I just had this problem and I suggest you deal with it immediately. I waited and it was a bigger problem. Take everything out the freezer, luckily I have a chest freezer to put things in. Shut off the breaker to your fridge or unplug it. I found a lot of ice in the freezer section. I used gloves and sponges with hot water to remove carefully. I let it sit. The things in the fridge won't go bad quickly if you don't open the door, and you put some ice in there. I eventually took the two screws off the back panel of the freezer compartment and opened it. There's a lot of ice back there and touching any of those elements is a bad idea. So put a towel in there and set down a small pot of boiled water to assist with the defrost.

Q: QuestionI bought this model 2 years ago and it just stopped working. Appliance repair people are almost impossible to find. The inside light comes on but i hear no compressor run and it does not get cold.

Q: QuestionThe manual online and pays a lot of attention to the noises that this refrigerator makes And that they are normal?? How loud are these three different noises?? CS Does not answer the phone?? I don’t want it waking me up and annoying me at night.

• A:Answer I’ve had this fridge over a year. I can tell you the sounds are strange but not invasive - to me, anyway. It occasionally pops or crackles. The sounds that is oddest is like a loud sigh. I’ve had a lot of old refrigerators that had an audible running sound. This fridge is silent except when it makes those very intermittent odd sounds.

• A:Answer I share this problem with other 9,8 owners. I will tear into it and ensure the condensate drain hose is not plugged but not too sure about that. The unit has never had food in it that would cause this issue. I put a plastic pan on the top glass shelf a few days ago and the water seems to no longer be an issue. Now wondering if the extremely cold air from the freezer section is causing moist air to condense on the top shelf (and yes, it freezes there). If this thread remains open, I will report back after diagnosing. I am a retired refrigeration service technician BTW.
