Hello Db, thank you for your interest in the Hisense 55U8G. A specialty HDMI cable is not required to get 4K picture. Please select a different picture mode or toggle with the advanced picture settings to get the desired quality. You can test the 4K picture using a 4K video in an application such as YouTube. I came to the realization that the tv just has bad image processing and judder so I had to return it… The tv has very good features but sadly image clarity and motion are not some of them..
