Will this work with a 3 wire (red, white, green)? null

Yes - this includes a piece to convert a 3 wire system so that you can use the thermostat

It will if you use the four wire adaptor that attaches at the furnace location. Must follow the directions carefully to make it function properly. This adaptor eliminated the need to pull a four conductor wire through your house walls.

When I installed mine, Honeywell told me I had to have a blue wire and I did have it, I think it's the power to the unit.
