“I know this defaults to the Windows browser Edge, can Edge be configured to actually show facebook photos? I've had this problem with Edge before and I want to know if this machine will give me the same trouble.”

• I don't think so. The problem seems to be with Windows 10 and not the browser.

• The configuration and performance of the laptop would not have an effect on what Edge is or is unable to display. That is an issue with Edge.
