Yes, I think this would be a good system for graphic design work, as long as it meets the minimum requirements for whatever software package you're using.

light photo editing, maybe, but the graphics onboard don't have the ooomph to run something like Photoshop. If you do your editing online with something like Pixlr or simiar you could get away with some heavier editing but thats because the heavy lifting for processing is being done on their end. Pixlr is free or pay, but the free version is pretty versatile and does a lot that older Photoshop CS used to do.
