This is very easy and very simple to do. The laptop runs fine and I've had no issues after performing this action on mine. Microsoft would love for you to only use their software and their browser of course, but there is no major drawback to not doing so. Feel free to install and update you AV software and you should be just fine. Note: That's whether you leave it in S-Mode or not btw. Lol

Some people have reported difficulty with this, but I can't address that without more detail. Also, if you do have trouble removing S Mode, there are alternatives available on the web and the MS website.
