- Answer Hi Lisa, apologies for what you're experiencing. The HP 17-cp0013dx laptop has a battery life of up to 8 hours and 15 minutes. It also supports Fast Charge, approximately 50% in 45 minutes. Many factors affect battery life - screen brightness, use of wifi, working with several tabs and apps, etc. You can adjust your settings to dim the screen a bit when operating only on battery power. The AC Smart pin port should charge the laptop even when it's off, If this is not the case, please reach out to Support.HP.com for assistance, or call 800-474-6836.
