• You must select either IDE or Sata when you purchase this item. They may not have IDE units in stock any more as few manufacturers are making them now days. It will state on the box whether the unit is IDE or Sata. I believe that the one I purchased was a Sata Unit.

• No, you need an adaptor (SATA to IDE), or an external drive enclosure that supports SATA, and connects via USB.
