A:AnswerMine is always in standby. It briefly turns on when I turn on or reboot my computer. Beyond that, it activates whenever I send something to it for printing - either via wired computer or wirelessly from my phone & tablets. In addition, it will activate if I run my fingers across the printer's screen.
